Ode to a Hot
Sauce
Mon, this sauce is good,
And very, very hot!
It'll change your step
From a walk to a trot.
The new stuff is made
From an African base,
And there on the bottle
is Brother Bru-Bru's face.
No salt is used,
'Tis a natural thing,
These fine tribal herbs
That can make you sing.
A drop or two
Adds punch to the taste.
Three drops or more,
Makes a serious bastes.
Try it on your eggs,
Put it in your chili too.
You can't use too much
Whatever you do.
Careful now...
It burns in the throat,
These African peppers
That arrive here by boat.
Brother Bru-Bru's new sauce
Has just passed the test,
And I hereby proclaim
It is simply the best!

Ode to Making a Great
Sauce
Brother Bru-Bru
sat by the stove and just waited,
With his lips smacking and his breath bated.
His new sauce was taking a long time to cook,
So now and then he would take a quick look.
The spices were mixing with peppers so hot,
From African places where he'd learned a lot.
It boiled and bubbled to make a new brew,
To put on some steaks and even in stew.
He stirred and he stirred and he added no salt.
"Preservatives," he said, "Would be a great fault,
This stuff will be natural, there's no MSG,
So I'll cook it some more and then we will see."
When it was done, all cooked without haste,
He dipped in his spoon to check out the taste.
"I've made a good batch," he said to himself,
"Now just how do I get it onto your shelf."
Into a bottle he poured his new stuff,
With thoughts about selling, which would be rough.
The market is crowded with food product news
But none's quite as good as Brother Bru-Bru's.
To his friend Bill, he sent up a sample,
"This is great," Bill said, "much more than ample.
You've scored with your sauce, I like it a lot.
It enhances my food, and hits the right spot."
"It is good," Bill said, "the flavor's just right.
The label is funny, it makes quite a sight.
In selling this sauce you ought to do well
And I love the fact that it's hotter than hell!"
